FDR Homes Naval Hospital Redevelopment | Philadelphia, PA
FDR Homes is a residential development designed to meet the needs of current residents and potential future residents at the former site of the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. We conducted a market analysis of the Lower South Philadelphia neighborhoods to better understand for whom we were designing and the ecological and economic factors that affect the area.
This 3-phased proposal establishes a neighborhood fabric by cutting streets through the former superblock and connecting them to the surrounding grid. In addition, green space is utilized as both stormwater infrastructure and reminders of the nearby FDR park and the landscape it provides. Semi-suburban style homes meet the market demand and maintain the legibility of the neighborhood, while semi-attached homes on Pattison Ave. welcome future residents attracted by the growth of the Stadium complex and Navy yard looking for a different residential experience.
